Ichchha's is a dream girl of 8 years old. Her mother Damini is a housemaid. When her mother goes for work Ichchha just sits on the compound wall of park and watches the vehicles moving by, its just time-passing for her there. Her friends are three. Can you handle it instrumental usher. One of them is a 7 year old boy who does boot-polishing on the road side just opposite of where Ichchha sits. Once Ichchha accidently sees a birthday party being celebrated in a Chruch school with plomb and gaiety.

She wonders seeing the big cake and the decorations. She is offered a laddu and is overjoyed and the next moment it is snatched away from her by her other boys. She dreams of her birthday and asks her mother when she will celebrate it and when will she cut the cake. Ichchha's dreams are very high she dreams off a rich and free life. She asks her mother why they are unlucky when others are so lucky to have money, clothes and respect. Her mother says it is written in one own's Kismat.

Ichchha's neighbouring Aunty says to her, that God has no time to give fortune to all, he is so busy that he forgets to give fortune to some and they will have to write their own fortune. So Ichchha finds a fortune teller and forces him to write the fortune/Kismat in her hand. She bears the pain while the person writes it on her arm.

Ichcha uses clothes and other possessions that are cast-off by Tapasya. In spite of the vast difference in status, the girls become best friends. Jogi Thakur discovers that he had accidentally caused the death of Ichcha's father long ago. He feels guilt-stricken and decides to become Ichcha's foster father, giving her the best possible upbringing.

However, jealousy creeps into the girls relationship as Ichcha wins over Tapasya's family with her simple nature and good character. Divya's aunt Sumitra Devi (Nani), being resentful of Damini and Ichcha, poisons Tapasya's mind against her friend.
