I am looking for options on how to properly deploy my isolated shell application to support the EFIGS (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish) languages. Currently, I have 5 separate isolated shell redistributable installers that are taking up roughly 700m. Is it possible to combine all 5 languages into a single redistributable installer to conserve space? Also, for those who have deployed isolated shell applications in multiple languages, are there any major limitations or key pieces of information that I should know? I tried this a few months back, and ran into a bug with the localized isolated shell redists, whereby the first language installed is the one that sticks. Subsequently running a different installer fails to install the requisite localized resources for the desired language. This is fixed with the VS 2010 isolated shell, but it's not quite out the door yet. Even with VS 2010 though, we don't have the concept of language packs implemented yet, so you will be forced to install each localized redist. Not a good story, but the redist should be smaller for 2010. I was able to get the needed localized resources installed by running the localized integrated shell redist's, after installing the first isolated shell redist.

Not a great workaround, but that's pretty much what we have right now. If this is a blocking issue for you, I would recommend opening a to see if they can push a fix.

This is very interesting to know. I'm currently trying to decide between using 2008 or using 2010. I'm looking to deploy the app roughly this time next year so I'm sure 2010 will be shipped by then but right now there are no concrete release dates and Beta 2 is not out yet.

Knowing that localization isn't completely solved but is in a better state in 2010 is good to know and is a good reason to use 2010 instead. For example, all the top menus are: File, Edit, View, Tools, Windows, Help.

And even some sub-menu items, like Edit->Find And Replace. However, all other sub-menus in Edit are in French: Annuler, Retablir, etc. How do I fix this bug?
